10 years ago in an interview with a local newspaper the EPA site manager at the time said that they will monitor Ashland Massachusetts ‘essentially forever’. What does it mean for our society if one of the first 10 Superfund sites is still dirty? Will there ever be a moment in my lifetime when there’s no contaminants in Ashland? After learning about the contaminants, it’s time for you to listen to the voices and memories of the contaminated. The people that make the place of Ashland. You will hear stories from family members, former activists, current concerns, and government representatives. One thing is for sure, I made a promise to my people in Ashland, I will not stop this project until the site is clean. Until the government entirely pulls out of monitoring this place. So now the responsibility of stewardship falls on myself and my generation- how are we communicating this risk to future generations? How can we be more present to create ecological health across our globe? How can we educate people about safe textile and clothing choices today? Where is color produced today?
